a few hours from now, it’s going to be your birthday. i have not been able to greet you on your special day for years now. nor have i greeted you on Christmas or New Year’s. it’s not that i have forgotten about it, more so i have not forgotten about you at all. but i have forced myself not to. it hurts too much to do even these simple things. and it’s time to let go. i should have a long time ago. but i do remember it. always.
